Laetitia Moon Conard was a pioneering Quaker educator and activist whose unwavering commitment to social justice and equality shaped her legacy in the early 20th century. She worked as a sociology professor at Grinnell College, and she left a lasting impact within and beyond the Grinnell community.

A friend described her beliefs as “4 isms – internationalism, pacifism, socialism, humanitarianism”. On occasion she has been termed a “radical socialist”, but perhaps we could think of her rather as a woman ahead of her time, for her positions and the causes she espoused are today very much in the mainstream.
